Last Day
Our last day of school began with Ethan F. giving a wonderful speech where talked about how everyone has overcome obstacles. He thanked his classmates for their influence and encouraged them to reach for their dreams.
We then announced that Mrs. Mathieu would not be returning to her position next year. The good news is that she hopes to found a middle school that will be an option for Polaris students!
Finally, we recognized our students who are moving on to middle school next year. We presented them with a Certificate of Advancement and a small token that will always remind them to “shine bright.” It is very hard to say good-bye to these wonderful kids.
Music Show
On Monday, June 8th, the Intermediate classes put on a Music show at our morning gathering. Angelica Rosenthal, our music teacher, had each class pick a song from a musical and they choreographed a dance routine to go along with it. We had so much fun watching it and it was obvious that the students had a great time performing.
Student Appreciation Picnic
On Wednesday, we all went to the park for a morning of fun and games. Each teacher ran a station with a game they had organized and classes rotated to each one. We saw a lot of collaboration and cooperation! We ended the time with a picnic lunch and popsicles. Thank you teachers, students and volunteers for a wonderful day!

Deadline For Year End Surveys
Please take a minute to fill out the school survey as well as the PEF survey. I hope to have everyone’s responses by June 10th. We really want to hear your opinions on what we are doing well and where we can improve. Comments are especially helpful. Thank you!
Learning Celebration
Our third trimester’s study of Journeys and Cycles culminated in a wonderful celebration Wednesday evening. Students presented projects on topics such as the Underground Railroad, Route 66 and cells. There were plays, songs and many items on display. One classroom was even transformed into an ocean full of sea creatures. It is always wonderful to see how excited the children are to share what they have learned.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found table is spilling over with items. Please remind your child to check for items they left behind. Anything still here at the end of the school year will be donated to charity.
Star Students
This week’s star students recognized for their perseverance were: Bindi, Charlotte, Devansh, Gaby, Julia, Myleigh, Spencer and Talia. Great job!
Mrs. Fesh’s Class Share
Each of Mrs. Fesh’s students chose one of their Journeys & Cycles projects to share with everyone. These included Route 66 Scrapbooks, Personal Journey sunglasses posters, and 3D butterfly life cycles. Then 3 students taught all Polaris students a new song that Izzy created called the Bobby Pin song.
Look For Library Books
The end of the year is coming up fast, so now’s the time to think about returning books to the school library. Most, but not all of our books have a sticker on the back that says “Property of Polaris Charter School Library.” If you find other books at your house that you don’t recognize as belonging to your household, please ask your kids if they came from the school library.
If you’d like to add to our library, please take a look at the library book wish list here:

Donations
In an attempt to streamline the donation process for families and for the school, we have set up wish lists on the websites for NE Paper & Supply and Amazon.com. Follow the links below to see the items we need. You can order online and they will ship directly to the school. In addition, Polaris will get money back from both sites. NE Paper & Supply will give us 10% credit for every item ordered. Amazon.com gives us 0.5% towards Polaris on every order placed through Amazon Smile. You can increase the benefits even more by ordering an Amazon card through the SCRIP program. Thank you to everyone who supports our school! PEF News
June PEF Meeting – Thursday, June 11th, 7 PM at the school
We will hold elections for the 2015-2016 PEF Board, Thursday June 11th at 7:00, as we now have volunteers for every PEF Board position!
But that doesn’t mean we don’t need YOU! We still need committee members and volunteers. The Board can’t do it on their own. Bring your ideas, tell us about your skills, interests and talents. Together we can make next year the best PEF year yet!
Enrichment
In order to run the after school enrichment program next year, the PEF is looking for an individual who will volunteer to keep things running smoothly during the school year. Arielle, Tara and Abby are willing to do most of the planning over the summer, and put together a brochure. For more details on this opportunity, email Brianna and Ali at pef@polarischarterschool.org. Without a volunteer for this crucial role, there will not be Enrichment programs for the 2015-2016 school year.
End of Year Picnic – TOMORROW – Saturday June 6th noon to 4:00pm at Elm Brook Park (Rain date June 7th)
Details can be found here, or on the Facebook page for this event: https://www.facebook.com/events/471130476385484/
